The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. Favorite Track(s): Die Feuertaufe, Grabenlieder

Late 90's BM worship, but it's also a lil more than that. This album takes the best elements from the scene it's inspired by and mostly avoids the worst of it; the song-writing is well-written, it's performed with passion and fun, and the production is raw but isn't lo-fi. (i.e. it doesn't obfuscate and/or suckass). Tl;dr It's safe but high quality BM. Recommended.

Basque country black metal! Velka deliver one of the most bursting and intense performances in recent memory: Purgatori Ignis Iudicium is hell breaking loose for 57 minutes straight. A brutal double vocal assault, blastbeat and doublebass bludgeonings, highspeed riffs tearing the skin and flesh off of your bones - this album just explodes non-stop. It is pure blunt force trauma, but still incredibly rich in detail and skillful songwriting. Cushty front to back, but that final track? Damn.
